Dating back to the 1980′s, Plainfield’s comprehensive plans have identified the intent to create a Riverwalk along the DuPage River through downtown Plainfield as a regional community amenity.
In 2005, the Villiage initiated the process of developing plans for the Riverfront. The Village formed a steering committee, including representatives from the Board of Trustees and the Plainfield Park District, as well as staff, to lead this effort. The steering committee worked with a team of consutlants to develop a Vision Plan for the Riverfront, and this Vision Plan was further developed into a Master Plan to guide the overall development of the Riverfront property.
The Plainfield Riverfront Master Plan provides a comprehensive plan with goals and strategies for developing the Plainfield Riverfront property.
